Archived from groups: microsoft>public>mac>office>excel (more info?)

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I want to find line returns in Excel cells with multiple lines of text (copied and pasted into cell). Using Excel 2007 for a PC, one can type Alt+010 using the numeric keypad in the FIND box, then place a unique identifying character such as a "|" in the REPLACE box.

How do you do the identical thing in Excel 2008 for Mac?

I don't think you can. You are not able to enter a formula (or the line
break character) in the find box. And, there is a further complication in
that the character that causes a line break within a cell in the Mac is an
ASCII 13, a carriage return. A line feed character (ASCII 10) is interpreted
as a space character within a cell on a Mac.

Copy the text out to Microsoft Word, munch it, and paste it back in... Smile

Cheers
