I have a document which will not print on an HP Laserjet 3800. I get
an error message printout of:
ERROR: limitcheck
OFFENDING COMMAND: image.

It will print on a Ricoh MP C2500.

The images are jpgs, about 1 to 1.5MB, and were brought in using
Insert/Picture/File.

Any ideas why?

thanks.

thanks.
Interestingly enough, if I import a jpg created by a program; i.e.
ArcView, the Word document prints properly. If I take a printout of
the jpg and scan it at 300 dpi as a jpg, and then import it, the image
will not print. The original jpg is 2.2MB and the scanned image is
491KB. It appears as if the problem is with scanned images (and
perhaps some code attched to it?).

Hi John:

AT LAST!!! We finally get an error message that tells us what's happening.

Yeah: Some drivers for some printers don't like the new printing subsystem
in OS 10.5.2. Or rather, they don't like it when Word makes them work hard.

Sadly, we don't have a cure for this yet. It was suggested at one stage
that if you reduce the resolution of the output to 600 dpi or below, it will
work. But I don't think anyone got that to work, either.

There's a Service Pack coming out next week for Office 2008. We're hoping
this will fix it.

Hope this helps

Hi John:

Well, now you have me completely foxed Smile

The "Limit Check" error I thought referred to the resolution of the image
being off the scale for that printer.

Now, I have no idea.

I assume that the image is wholly within the document margins?

While it remains theoretically possible to embed code in a JPEG, it is
extremely unlikely, and a printer is unlikely to notice.

There are only three limits I am aware of when printing: "Size",
"Resolution" and "Colour Depth". If the Size were excessive, I would have
assumed that the Ricoh wouldn't print it either.

If the resolution were off the scale, the manoeuvre you just tried would
have eliminated the problem.

If the colour depth was wrong, it should have failed to print anywhere.
Microsoft Office requires RGB colour format. It can't handle CMYK.

Sorry: I have no answer!

Cheers
