I am new in sharing file between Mac. I just bought a lacie external
harddrive that is connecting to my g3 desktop. When I use my ibook to
connect to the desktop G3 using wireless (which I use very often for
file sharing), I was not able to see(get access) to the external
harddrive. Is it because of the problem with the format of the
harddrive (fat32) or something that I have not done! Please help!

thanks Bob

the system is being logged in as Admin. I am able to see all mounted
internal harddrive in the remote computer. it is just that I the
external harddrive cannot be see or mount on the remote ibook. that's
why I was wondering if it is caused by the harddrive format is FAT32i
but not mac extended, thanks for your help!!

Just to make sure,
System Preferences -> Sharing -> Personal File Sharing
is enabled. I assume it is, but I just want to make sure.

I have found that if I log into my desktop system as the owner
user (an admin account), that I get to see all the mounted file
systems.

I also found this MacOSXHints.com notes:

I found my external drive would disappear from the shared drives list
whenever it was unmounted, then re-mounted. To make the drive
reappear, I turned sharing on the host off and back on.
