It sounds like what you're referring to is the vertical Scroll Bar, which
operates in much the same way in Mac apps as it does in PC Word. If you have
only one page & are zoomed to see the entire page in your window the scroll
bar will be inactive - there's nowhere to scroll to. If the whole page
doesn't fit or if there are more pages scrolling is the same. The only
difference is that the Mac OS allows you to have the scroll arrows -
normally at top & bottom on the PC - to be top/bottom or both at the bottom.
If you're saying that the vertical scroll bar is missing altogether go to
Word> Preferences - View & restore the check in the Window group.
FYI: This newsgroup is one of the less active groups & intended for issues
with MS products for Mac other than the 4 primary Office apps. Word, Excel,
PPt & Entourage all have their own dedicated groups and any future postings
will be addressed more promptly if submitted to the appropriate group rather
than here. They can be accessed from:
http://www.officeformac.com/ProductForums/
This question, for example, would be better off in the
[microsoft.public.mac.public.word] newsgroup, so if I've not answered it
effectively please submit any further request there. Also, always state the
exact version of Office & OS X - both can make a difference in how any given
issue needs to be handled.
