:-\ It might be related to the way the site manages authentication. I
can't see these videos since I'd have to be a member. I suspect they use
authentication through Cookies and that there's something buggy in WMP
preventing the proper authentication and accessibility of the file.
It might be related to the HTTP 1.0/1.1 bug in WMP.

It can't work with the file since the server first has to identify you
as a registered user of the site before it actually sends the file. WMP
won't directly support that and you need to access the videos through a
browser.
I'm not sure a lot could be done on the server side.
