has anyone had a problem using a ch yoke on their mac. X-Plane will not
recognize the yoke even though it is on the usb device manager.
Need some help with this one.

Hi Kim

First off, I assume you have a CH USB Yoke, model 200-615, which is
compatible with the Apple Mac, those with USB ports and OS X?

Next, what mapping program are you using? 'Input Sprocket 1.7' provided
the mapping between the game controller and the game itself(*). But
Input Sprocket 1.7 is an old program and I don't know if development
has continued with it. The latest offering from Apple is 'Gamepad
Companion' - 2.4 I think.

If you don't use either of these interface programs, what do you use?
If you don't use the correct program that might explain why the yoke
doesn't control X-Plane.

I have ordered X-Plane Deluxe myself this Christmas (2006) and it
should work with Gamepad Companion (which I've not used) and my Macbook
Pro.

I have used MS Flight Simulator with a joystick but X-Plane is supposed
to be better, cheaper and designed for the Mac. However, I wouldn't
call either of these simulators 'games' because they do take a lot of
time to learn as you may know.

* I assume you can control X-Plane via your keyboard and the problem is
therefore one of mapping the yoke controls to the equivalent keyboard
commands?
