I am running Mac OS 10.4 and using Office X and everytime I open MS
Word, I receive the error message. The custom dictionary: System
Folder:Preferences: Microsoft Custom Dictionary is not available.

I looked in Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ and the custom dictionary is
located in the folder. So I am not sure why I kep receiving this error
message.

Any thoughts would be helpful

Thank You,

Since Word is looking in

System Folder:Preferences:

but your Custom dictionary is in (I assume you mean your home directory
[~] Library folder)

~:Library:Preferences:Microsoft

your problem starts there...

System Folder is the top level folder for Mac OS9 (Classic).

Try adding your custom dictionary location in Preferences/Spelling and
Grammar.
