Anyone have any recommendations for Web site hosting? My ISP does it,
but they're probably a bit more expensive than the big players. They
charge about $25/month for about 250 MB of space. I don't really need a
lot of space, but there are places offering hosting for a lot less.
However, I'd like a hosting site that uses UNIX servers and provides
intelligent tech support.

Yeah, my ISP is the same, I could host with them except that they're so
much more expensive than most any other place I would look.

I use www.pair.com for hosting; their cheapest option, at $5.95/month,
seems more or less comparable to what you describe. I don't have any
interest in the company except as a satisfied customer for about 3.5
years now.

My ISP (Sonic.net) has some pretty competitive hosting options and they
are available as a standalone service. They cheapest is called Value
Hosting. <http://www.sonic.net/sales/hosting/value-hosting.shtml>

For $9.95/month you get:

€ 5000 megabytes of storage for your web content
€ 50 gigabytes of file transit per month
€ 50 email-only accounts
€ FTP access to keep your content up-to-date
€ CGI access for advanced web programming
€ 5 MySQL Databases included
€ DNS hosting included for one domain name
€ Comprehensive disk usage and bandwidth monitoring

In 15 years of being on the internet, these guys are the first ISP I've
stuck with for more than a year. I've been with them since 2001 and can
highly recommend them. All their servers are Unix based (Linux actually)
and they have great tech support.

Thanks. That sounds pretty damn good considering what they provide.
