I would forgo the VPC route entirely. The emulation is no ware fast
enough to support Webcams, even if you could get it to work.
My advice is to use Yahoo IM or iChat on the Mac. Both support
firewire directly from your iSight/Video camera (you can even use a
Dazzle bridge or other converter for non-firewire cams).
Yahoo IM will give you a MAX of 15 fps at 320x240 on a cable
connection. The quality is OK, but very delayed. Realistically, you
will only get about 5 fps on a solid connection.
I strongly recommend going the iChat route. You will get full 30 fps
and the quality is amazing. The PC end needs AOL IM v5.5 or better.
I spent a day with a friend about 25 km away playing with the different
clients, and AIM/iChat was hands down the best. We could talk, wave
our arms around... etc, with only about a quarter second delay and NO
pixilation what so ever.
On this one, Apple is the King!. I have never seen netmeeting (MSN)
with anywhere near the quality. Once the PC end is going, you will
love it.
One warning though, you have to make sure that if you are using a
firewall app like "Little Snitch" that you set it up to allow iChat
"Any Connection". I am sure there are very specific ports that need to
be used, but after spending a hour clicking "Allow connection" for
every single port that came up, I just decided it was more prudent to
give iChat free access. Once I "Allow any connection" for iChat,
everything work smooth as silk!
Good Luck.
