Post subject: USB hub for OS9.1

I am using a Macintosh Server G3 PowerPC running OS 9.1. I have a
2usb/2firewire card installed and would like to and a usb hub so I
don't have to keep swapping my devices.I need help on what is the
difference between usb 1.5 and 2.0 devices and the best source for
info.

The difference between USB 1 and USB 2 is speed. The USB 1 standard is
12mbps; USB 2 is 480mbps. Any USB cable or hub is going to be compatible
with either; the only thing that matters is the controller. So If you hook a
USB 1 device into a USB 2 port, the port will work with USB 1, and
vice-versa.

Don't expect to actually get 480mbps out of USB 2, though. In my experience,
FireWire 400 is faster.

They will work together, but the only way to get full USB 2 speed (as
much as the device is capable of sending, anyway) is to have a USB 2
port on the computer, a USB 2 hub, a USB 2 port on the device, and USB
2-rated cables between each device and the hub.
