Complete rookie here...
My web site includes a ton of pdf files that I want to search by
content and then by date modified. My tech guy somehow has a
Spotlight search on my website with limited capability.
The server is the very latest released this year.
How do you get more Spotlight options in a web environment?
Thx |

Spotlight searches disk volumes, not web sites. I'm guessing your tech
guy has access to the actual file space representing your web site and
has allowed it to be indexed by Spotlight on his Mac. Since Mac OS X is
intimately familiar with PDF, it should be able to search the contents
of PDF files without trouble.

He has a Spotlight interface that opens in a browser and doesn't allow
for the options as I would like to see them. I wonder if this
interface can be adjusted and how??? |

Maybe you'd better ask him how he's doing that, then. As I said,
Spotlight doesn't do web sites. It indexes the contents of disk volumes
so that you can search them.

Your best bet would be Sherlock.app. That searches the internet. |

The previous references perfectly describe what is happening on my
site. Content and relevance. I need dates...
I am not stuck with Spotlight, just not familiar with another route...

Is there a replacement app for Sherlock's translation facility? It's far
superior to using Babelfish IMHO.

That's not really a Mac system question. Try asking in a more relevant
news group.

The Dashboard widget's window is too small.
Way too small.
It won't do as a replacement for Sherlock's multiple resizable
windows. |

Which is my criticism of Babelfish as well.
In addition, Sherlock has these advantages over Babelfish:
a) it preserves paragraph spacings
b) it remembers the last language setting used, even across logins
c) you can close your browser completely but still have Sherlock active
