Hello,
I've posted about this problem before & was advised to update to the
latest version. I have now updated to version 6.0.212 but the problem
persists, I think the solution must lie in a configuration setting
somewhere but I can't find where it is.
We use Retrospect with a Quantum 16 tape Super-loader but are regularly
receiving 206 "media failure errors". Some errors have been on brand new
tapes & some have been on previously written to media (we have 5 daily
backup sets which we rotate; each backup set contains 2 x 320 Gig
SDLTs.) The Quantum informs us when we need to clean the heads, which is
done regularly.
Unfortunately when a media fails, Retrospect is not automatically
looking for a spare blank (in the Quantum) to continue the operation.
Therefore the backup remains in limbo until I come in each morning & hit
the 'OK' button to continue. How can I tell Retrospect to find another
media automatically without waiting for user intervention.
I have set, under "Preferences":
in Media request:
Media request timeout: Set to 20 mins
Automatically skip to blank media: checked
in Run control:
Confirm before stopping executions: checked
Stop on errors: unchecked
in Unattended:
Take this action when an unattended execution completes...: Set to Quit
Notify for failures and media: unchecked
Also set under the control menu are:
"Run unattended"; "Just log errors" & "When done: Quit"
Can anyone help with this problem? Cheers, Jase.
