Sorry, it's me again! I have been using Safari on my new Mac (iMac G5) for
about a week now, and cannot find an option to print just a selection of a
web page. I have downloaded Firefox (my previous browser) and have the same
problem (which I didn't have using it under Windows). Is this a Mac-specific
thing or have I got to change some settings somewhere? {I have looked in the
Help files but they only talk about printing a specific frame, not just a
selection.
(Apologies if this appears twice, Hogwasher said it had failed the first
time.)

Depends on the Web page. I find that if the page has frames I can right
click (or Control-click) and get a menu which offers a "print frame"
option.

And there is always CMD-Shift-4, which turns the cursor into a crosshair.
Click and drag over the area you want to print, then release the mouse. A
png file will appear on the desktop, which will open in Preview, and you can
then print it. |

That is a *very* useful tip Brian. Have just tried it - thanks. Have yet to
find my way around some of the short cuts although I have looked in the
appropriate help files, keyboard settings etc. Moving over to a Mac is a
steep learning curve but I'm having fun at the same time!

In Mac Help search on "Keyboard Shortcuts" and from the resulting list
choose "Shortcuts for taking pictures of the screen" .... good eh?!
It does take a while to acquire all the tricks of a different system ...

I'm with Brian -- that's one of my favorite internet time-savers.
Save receipts, notices, other addresses, images, whatever, exactly as
it looks and with no extra step.
Clippings are handy for dragging material INTO a message or site -- but
a screen capture with that command is very flexible.
Sally, if you like that one, you should know about these others:
System Prefs> Keyboard> Keyboard shortcuts
(it's a list of other handy commands) |
