Hello, Is there a way to organize folders that are created in "Folders on My Computer" in other than alphabetical order? I'm running 2008 and it seems that all folders at the same level are kept in alphabetical order. This keeps me from arranging folders as I see fit so as to keep them in some logical or priority order that is meaningful to me. I know I can force a desired collating sequence by using numbers or the like but I don't want to do this. I searched this Entourage forum regarding this question but didn't see any relevant information.

Not without using some sort of name change either through numbers, spaces,
symbols. I use the @, $ and spaces.

You can also drag folders to the Favorites bar in any order you like. Be
sure to use subfolders to keep your folders organized. Dragging the root
folder to favorites will quickly take you to the subfolders.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, no. After the default folders Inbox, Drafts, Outbox, etc., the
rest of the folders can only be ordered alphabetically. You can try
appending a space or two in front of some folders to move them higher in
order but anything else will require special characters or numbers.

Please be sure to let Microsoft know you'd like to see this feature in
future versions by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any
Office application.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Diane. I'm using special characters from the "Character Palette" to force the order I want. This may be awkward but I decided to use superscript numerics because they're small and don't detract from the folder name. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Bill. See my comments to Diane. Also, per your suggestion I used "Send Feedback" to Microsoft to request future versions of Entourage support organizing the folders in "Folders on My Computer" in any order. Happy New Year!

I should have included the feedback to Microsoft:

Currently, Entourage forces folders at the same level in "Folders on My Computer" to be listed in alphabetical order. It would be very useful to be able to order these folders in any sequence so that desired logical order and relationships can be created. Currently the only way to order folders at the same level outside alphabetical order is to use special characters (e.g., from the Character Palette) to force the desired collating sequence.

Under File in the Menu bar select New --> Folder. You also have the option
to create a subfolder. You can drag folders after you create them.

Tip: Any subfolders you make will have the same column set-up as its parent.
For example, set up your Inbox how you want it, then when you create new
folders, it will inherit the settings. More Info
