Thanks for the heads-up. I think I'll give it a shot now.

I updated it this morning was quite happy to see the filtering. I think
the application works quite nicely for a newsreader on a mobile device.
The main problem really is not the fault of the application. It is that
the iPhone does not have cut and paste.

I'd hardly call it a hard requirement - just a nice-to-have. And that
applies to *any* iPhone application - not just NewsTap.

I need it when replying. When you do a followup in NewsTap all the text
and previously quoted text is copied. So I have to manually delete all
the text by single spaces to snip it down to the essential part I am
replying too.

I use MTNW on my Macbook Pro most of the time. Does NT know what I
have read on MTNW? I might want to use this for "driveby" news when I am
out roaming around with my Touch, but not if each time I have to work
through everything that has been posted since last time I used NT.

I have not used MTNW for a while but if it still does "newsrc", NewsTap
has a backup application that will import and export "newsrc". I have
not tried that but I have backed up my subscriptions and preferences
over my home Wi-Fi network.

Transferring Newsrc Files. I think MTNW can do that. Newstap has a Mac
app to do that.

I can't speak for Kurt, of course, but I'm guessing he meant is there a
mechanism by which NT would automatically interact with MTNW and/or the
server so that reading an article in one will register it as read in the
other.

So far, I'm very pleased with it! It's compact, easy to use, and pretty
capable. There's room for improvement in some areas. But overall, not
bad at all!

I've considered a graphical thread tree to be an essential part of my
Usenet experience since... hmmm, when exactly did I start using MacSOUP?

To be honest, I don't miss it in MT-NW. I wonder why...
