I've just added a vintage iMac to my home network, and I'd like to be able
to print from the iMac, running Mac OS 9.2, to an HP deskjet printer
connected to a Windows 2000 desktop (not a server).

How do I do that?

Thanks,

I believe you will need something like "Dave" a software that allows
Macs to talk to PC's.

I have a similar problem. I have my Mac and 2 Windoze systems on a
router to my DSL modem. All units can talk to the DSL and geta net
connection. The two windoze systems talk to each other and share a
printer.

The Mac OS 9 ysstem cannot be seen and it cannot see the pc's.

"Dave" by Thursby software is supposed to handle this need.

I have similar applications on all machine so I just create stuff on
the Mac and if I need it on one fo the PCs I just FTP it to a holding
space I have on my web server domain then pull it down on the PC.

Its clunky but it works. I move word processor files, music, database
files, etc that way with little effort.

The trick is having matching applications that can read/save between
Mac and PC formats such as MS Office, etc.

Hello,

Dave is a good recommendation. However, when you figure the cost of
Dave, and the exceptionally low cost of a ethernet laser printer, I
recommend just buying a Mac compatible laser printer. Note: if you run
OSX, you can see most PC only printers anyway through the ethernet
port.

I think changing out your printer is more stable, less buggy, and
perhpas less costly.

Dave is $199. You can buy a fine new or used laser printer for just a
little more.

I see Staples had a Lexmark Laser printer for $100. Or you could get a
Brothers all in one laser printer from Amazon for $200.

Just my thoughts.
