Mighty Mouse random clicking

I had a Mighty Mouse that started producing an annoying, light clicking
sound whenever my hand was resting on it. I posted about this a few
months ago.

I took it apart to try to clean it, but it didn't go back together
properly (the ring on the bottom wouldn't stay on ). So I bought a new
one.

Here it is just 2 weeks later and the new one has developed the SAME
problem. Is it just me, or is this a common problem with this mouse?
I'd hate to have to go back to a generic scroll mouse, as I really like
the MM's scroll ball.
