Does anyone know if Microsoft is planning a new release of MS Project
for Mac? Why hasn't there been such a product for Mac in many years?
There are alot of us Mac users who need it, doesn't Microsoft
understand that? I certainly do not. Thanks.

Hi Mr T,

I just gave a copy of a new Mac software product to a friend today. It
uses MS project XML files (reads and writes). I'll get the name and try
to post back with it tomorrow.

Microsoft is not going to make MS Project for the Mac any time in the
near future. Not enough demand exists to make it profitable. There may
be "a lot" but not enough... yet. Macs continue to gain market share,
so that could change.

Meanwhile you can run MS Project in Virtual PC.

For many organizations the project gallery in Office 2004 is a
sufficient tool to organize projects, although it is definately not the
kind of tool someone would use who is a project manager by profession.

Hi,

As luck would have it the person I gave my copy to stopped by to thank
me this morning

The software is LeadingProject by csodessa, the same folks who make
ConceptDraw and MindMap. I've used their other products and have found
them to be very good.

You can get more information about LeadingProject at this URL
http://www.leadingproject.com/en/products/project/ap_planning_software.php

The box says the product can work with Microsoft Project XML files. I
say it's worth the time to give it a shot.

You might take a look at a package called Merlin by ProjectWizards. It
reads the project file and it's a well-done piece of software.
