Post subject: Macintosh integration with Microsoft windows

I'm doing some research on integrating macintosh and microsoft windows.
I'd be interested in developing a mac ui using a sql server backend.
Is there a good way to access sql server from a software pgm running on
a mac? Can anybody recommend some good development tools?
