Archived from groups: microsoft>public>mac>office (more info?)

I bought a new macbook, well, new to me. Anyhow, it had office
installed on it & I have the registration key.

I reinstalled the laptop, so I could start fresh without all the
previous owners stuff on it. So now I have a trial version of Office
2004. How do I enter in my license key so that I have the full
version? I cant find anything anywhere! I see how to BUY IT, but I
dont think I should have to do that.

Any ideas?

Thank you - from a long time PC user, trying to make the switch Smile

Another possibility I'm reading into your quandary:

If the previous owner legitimately owned a license to the Office software on
the system he should have either a) removed Office from the Mac before
transferring ownership if he intended to continue using that copy of the
product, or b) handed over the disks along with the Mac & the key. As you
can see, the key does you no good if you have to reinstall the software -
the software is on the disks. You can install from any copy of the same
version using your key, but you'll still be left in the same boat if
something similar occurs in the future.

Contact the other party for the disks or invest in a copy of Office to call
your own:)

Hi,

it's not possible to convert the Test Drive into a full install, even if you
own a registration key. You will need to use the Microsoft Office CD, run
the Remove Office application on it to remove the Test Drive
(Office>Additional Tools>Remove Office) and then install the full version.
Since you are new to the Mac, is the registration key that you own for a Mac
version of Office, or is it from your PC version? You cannot use a Win
Office product key with Mac Office; if you don't own a Mac Office product
key, you will need to buy a copy of Mac Office, I'm afraid.
