Hi there:
From home, I was able to connect to my office PC using RDC on my old
G4. I just bought a new macbook, downloaded the latest RDC and I get
the "windows based computer cannot be found" when I type my office
PC's IP address.
1. I tried using another wireless connection other than my home
connection and it still doesn't work.
2. I can connect to my pc with my mac at the office when I type my
computer's name in RDC when logged into our wireless network at work.
Our system guys think it a firewall issue on my new macbook.
Any thoughts? I've spent hours trying to figure this out. Thanks for
any help.

I am having a similar issue.
Do you know if you have to set any specific router settings to allow
the RDC to work with the mac?
When I plug the Mac into the network cable on my desk I can login via
RDC using either the ethernet and my server number or alternatively, I
can login into the VPN and use the VPN computer. However, when I log
in at home, I can access the VPN normally, but the RDC cannot find the
VPN computer. My PC can access the network using RDP/VPN from home
without issue. This has the smell of a routing issue. D |

This was solved. In the advanced settings, the button to select "Send
all traffic through the VPN" needed to be selected. I had actually
tried setting this option to that before without success. Previously
I had made the change, selected apply, reconnected the VPN and it did
not work. The trick was to select the option, apply it, then
immediately reboot the Mac. Apparently the change in VPN settings did
not take until the machine had rebooted.
