Mac OS 7.6.1 ethernet card install

This was my experience when I added an Ethernet card to my LC III. It
was necessary to re-run the OS installation package, choosing to
custom-install only the network portion.

I also recall a problem where the network driver did not load if there
was no Ethernet connection when the machine was booted. In other words,
connect the Ethernet port to an active device before booting.

One other problem is that you may need a cross-over Ethernet cable,
depending on what you are connecting to. Older equipment did not have
the automatic features available today.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. The card I have is a
Kingston KNE30BT. I am trying to connect to my DSL modem to get the
internet connection. It is a PPPoA connection that is always connected
so I just need DHCP.

Do you have a driver for the card yet?

Kne30BT? isn't that a ISA card? If not... Yum! its a BNC
Twinsted pair card right? Is there drivers on the Kingston website for
the Mac? Right now my G3 is connected with 10Base-T ethernet. I have
several RTL8029 PCI cards that MacOs 9.2.2 won't load drivers for. I
would like to go back to coax (BNC) if I can find drivers and a
compatible PCI card for a B&W G3 machine.
Any information you can give would be a help here.
