Sadly though, it's usually Australian beer, too Smile

Interesting concept but untrue. Pilsners took over after prohibition. I
don't believe, lame as it is, that Bud is made with rice. I toured the
production faciliy of Coors at Golden, and there was no rice in the
process. And for the most part they are the same beer as far as I'm
concerned.

I expect even fewer have had it on tap... it is better than from a can.
And I have heard that in Ireland itself, on tap, it is yet better again.

The Extra Stout I purchased was in bottles.

I'll be avoiding canned beer altogether.

They're generally better at pouring the Guinness here in Ireland,
certainly-- it's a bit of an art-- so the quality's a bit more
consistent from bar to bar. But to be honest, I can't tell the
difference between a Guinness here and a (well-poured) Guinness I've had
anywhere else...

Quite true. Years ago I used to drink Tecate in Mexican restaurants in
Dallas, which always and forever came with a wedge of lime jammed in
the can's mouth, or was on the glass or in the glass. So I always used
it. Once I had a Tecate without the lime and realized I'd been
drinking a lime drink. Then on a few other occasions I realized that
if you didn't drink it in about 10 minutes it would hit room
temperature, and without the lime it was, most assuredly, horse piss.

With the Weltenberger Anno (one of a few beers I always like to have at
home), we simply keep in in the pantry where it's cooler than in the
house. Perfect.

As I've heard. The temperature of the taps, as I've heard in both
Irish and British pubs, are many degrees higher than in the US.

The "real ale," the stuff that's pulled up by a barman's muscles from
kilderkins in the cellar is cellar temperature, but it's not _warm_
exactly; the cellar in a British pub is quite cool. The fizzy lager, the
stuff under pressure (don't _EVER_ drink draught Heineken or Budweiser
in an English pub, it's what we called "cooking lager" and it's brewed
in Clapham or somewhere and it's the very definition of vile) is kept
quite a bit cooler, pretty much to American tastes.

More alcohol equals more drunk. While it wasn't the case while I was in
my 20s, I'm not in it to get buzzed or drunk. For me, it's all about
the taste! : )

I bought a super-jug (not a full magnum but like a 1.5 liter or
something?). We shared it at a dinner party for four before dinner.
Man did dinner start off merry!

Just what sort of pirate are you anyway?

As it so happens, though, the Belgians in general produce outstanding
beers and ales. Yes, many have a high alcohol content, but they also
taste great as a rule.
