I recently picked up a Powerbook G4 12 inch 1.5GHz and was wondering if
this laptop can be upgraded to a larger hard drive and if so what is the
largest it will take. It currently has a 80GB drive.

Of course it can be upgraded. Here's now to do it:

It uses a standard Ultra ATA/100 2.5-inch hard drive. There is no size
limit imposed by the Mac itself, so buy whatever size drive you want.
Here's a 160 GB drive that'll surely work fine, for instance:
