If I boldface one line, the whole document goes boldface, so long as a
paragraph mark is included in the line. Anyone know how to stop this?

hello, I'm currently on PC, so I will have to guess where the option is
a little bit.
The problem is in the automatically update paragraph. Click on the
paragraph name in Formatting pallete>modify>uncheck the automatically
update.
Hope this helps.

Orient toward PC Word, but don't let that stop you - although you may have
to hit the reload button once or twice if using Safari:
