Post subject: Footnote numbering

I am a newbie to Word, having converted from many years of using WordPerfect.

I wrote a long (65 page) document with many footnotes. The notes were sequentially numbered, but my publisher wants each page's footnotes to start with number 1. I tried changing the option, but there is no response. However, now if I add a footnote it starts with #1 on each page, in the midst of the other higher numbered notes.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
