Hallo,

when I try to "send and receive" with Outlook Express 5.02 on Mac OSX 9, I
get an error message with code 1502. Access to the mail server is obtained
using POP3 protocol.

Thanks in advance

If you're able to replicate the error, please post the full error message
text.

FYI, it's always best to use Outlook Express v.5.0.6, which is available
here...

The OS is in italian; the error message is:

Errore
Impossibile recuperare la posta dall'account "Posta POP Unicatt".

Spiegazione
Il server ha riportato il seguente errore

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
<HTML dir=ltr><HEAD><TITLE>The page cannot be displayed</TITLE>
<STYLE>A:link {
FONT: 8pt/11pt verdana; COLOR: #ff0000
}
A:visited {
FONT: 8p
Error: 1502

(I try to translate in english, but I'm not sure that the errore message is
as I do:
Impossibile recuperare la posta dall'account "Posta POP Unicatt". = Cannot
receive mails from account "Posta POP Unicatt"

Spiegazione = Explanation
Il server ha riportato il seguente errore = The server reported the
following error).

I have the same error on two different Mac, but the SysAdmin told me that he
didn't change something on the server.

Unfortunately, that doesn't tell us a lot. You could try to remove the mail
account from Tools > Accounts and then recreate it before attempting to send
and receive again - sometimes, the mail account can become corrupt, so
recreating the account configuration can resolve issues like this.

Doing this will not remove your old e-mail messages, it just resets the
account settings. Give it a try and see what happens.

OK, are you or your mail provider able to connect to the mail account
through telnet?

If the new Mac has never been configured, the settings can't be corrupt, and
it implies either that there's an issue with the mail account itself, or
with the Internet connection that you're using to access that account.
