| Got my Snow Leopard update DVD yesterday and went to burn a backup copy only
to find that there's too much data on there to fit on a regular 4.7 GB DVD--
even if I select the Compress Data option on my MacBook.
How can I make a backup copy?

Dual layer.

Thanks for the tip. Can I burn a dual layer DVD in a current version MacBook
(white)? |

You need a double layer DVD (8.5 GB). |

Yes, make sure you backup the device, not the volume.

Use a DL blank with the appropriate burner.

I just duplicated it with no problem using a double-layer 8.x GB DVD-R.

Use something with more capacity? A dual-layer DVD if you have a drive
that can burn them. Otherwise create a disk image to put on a hard
drive or some other medium.
