Archived from groups: comp>sys>mac>programmer>codewarrior (more info?)

I've downloaded the free CW10 version and I have a few questions.

1. I would like to know what exactly the differences between the free
version and the full version are. So far I found: Limit on number of
source files in a project, CVS is not available, and optimisation is
limited to level 1. Are there any other differences that I missed, and
are these differences to be expected?

2. If I purchase the full version, is there any need to download it
again or do is the full version identical to the free one except that I
need to receive some license key?

3. Can I move Codewarrior to a different Macintosh without problems, and
without help from Freescale (just in case since support probably doesn't
last forever)?

4. Will Codewarrior and will apps compiled with Codewarrior work on an
Intel Macintosh? I understand that they won't run at maximum speed, but
will they work? Does the debugger work, since that is likely the most
difficult thing to get working correctly?

I think you're also limited to creating mach executables (no libraries,
frameworks, bundles, etc.).

The disk image you downloaded works for both the limited and the full
version. The only difference will be the license file.

Yes, that should be fine.

Presumably they will work, but it depends a lot on what Apple changes
between now and when those new machines and operating systems are
released. If there are issues, your best bet would be to file bugs with
Apple.

You can not create libraries or DLL's your license to distribute is
limited

The full version just needs you to get the activation key for what you
already have installed.

For some reasons people have been having problems with running CW 10 on
a second system (even though they clearly copied the license.dat file
over) we are trying to find the reason why. But if it doesn't work we
will help you and Freescale is going to be around to provide license
support.

They will run, I don't know about debugging I've never seen a MacTel
machine.

I downloaded and installed the student version to check it out.. but it
insist on running as a limited time demo.. asking me to register.. but I
have no data to enter for the registration page. I have the .dat file in
the same folder as the CodeWarrior app.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't expect CodeWarrior's debugger to work on
an Intel-based Mac. Debugging under Rosetta isn't supported from within
Xcode and is complicated, so I'd be surprised if it worked with
CodeWarrior.

The CodeWarrior IDE itself works under Rosetta. I haven't tried
CodeWarrior 10 there because I don't have a copy of it, but I'd be
surprised if it didn't work. (And as Isaac says, if it doesn't work,
file a bug with Apple.)
