In PowerPoint 2004 it was possible to stipulate the speed of a custom animation. For example, I have set the speed of an animation to 300 seconds to give myself a 5-minute countdown timer. In PowerPoint 2008 it seems that one is stuck with a choice of Very Slow, Slow, Medium, Fast and Very Fast with no option of changing the speed. Does anyone know a way of altering the speed in 2008?

| Yes, unfortunately, there is no way to customize the speed for an animation. I have entered this into our database as a suggestion to bring it back.
I know this won't be the same, but perhaps you could use the delay field in the Timing panel of the Custom Animation pane to delay instead of the animation coming in really slow?
