Two questions.

I can log into my Windows computer but when I log into it through my
Mac I have to type in the IP addres and can't just type in my Windows
computer name. Any suggestions on being able to just put my computer
name in the box rather than the IP address. I can VPN into the
network fine.

Also when I shut down the RDC sometimes when I get to work the next
day it has shut down all the programs on that was open when I shut
down RDC. Does anyone know how I can make sure this doesn't happen?

Thanks,
Alex

If you're trying to use something like "computer" then you may need to
be using the fully qualified domain name "computer.domain.com".

Or you may need to add your company's DNS server addresses manually to
your Mac under Apple menu --> System Preferences --> Network.

Is the same session that you left when you shut down RDC still running
on your Windows computer when you return to work? Or is it sitting at a
login screen? if it's at a login screen then your computer's
administrator may have enabled automatic logout after a specified time.
Or your machine may be undergoing network maintenance that requires a
reboot of your system.

Hope this helps! bill

Hello

I also have a problem with connecting remotely and then the PC logging off
the user, and then when either I log in later again or come into work in the
morning, I am again at the login screen and it has completely logged me off,
which is a pain because I leave the windows and programs open that I need
regularly.

Where can I check where the administrator may have enabled automatic logout
after a specified time? I have admin privilidges on my PC.

Thank you

Ralph

Hi Ralph!

This is most likely controlled by a Group Policy that is centrally
administered for all machines, not just a setting on your own machine.
Contact your network administrator or Active Directory administrator to
verify this.

Hope this helps! bill
