Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have a workaround for this, but am wondering how one would get Microsoft to fix it. It's been there since Excel 2008 first came out.

My Horizontal (Time) axis scale has a Minimum of 9/1/07 and a maximum of 12/31/08. I want to change the maximum to 8/31/09. I place the cursor to the right of "08". I press delete (backspace) to delete the "8". At that point Excel CPU usage shoots to approx. 100% and I never get control back.

The workaround is to insert the "9" between the "0" and "8", so it's "098", then delete the "8".

Oops. I found the Send Feedback about Excel on the Help menu. Sorry to bother the folks here. (Unless of course anyone has a better workaround!)

Hey, THANK YOU to both! Who knew, this would be the very first question on the list this morning. I needed to change the top of my Y axis scale from 50 to 75, inserted the new value between the original 5 and 0 and then took out the 0. Voila!! This took all of 10 seconds and since I'm just doing it once, I'm happy.

But, yes, I DO hope Microsoft will fix this!

Would one of you be able to give me more details on this? I'm not exactly
sure of the scenario you're referring to, but if I can get details I can
push for a fix.

Thanks,

Pat

Thanks Pat. Are images allowed on these forums? If so, I can give a few screen shots. Or if you like I can just email you the file, in which case you can just do as I've described in the first post to attempt to reproduce the problem.
