Hi,
On my slack10.2 system, macromedia tells me:
"You have version 7.0.73.0 installed."
I can go to their web site and hear some sample files. However
other internet sites that supposedly use macromedia flash player give
me the hated "download plugin" popup. Presumably this is a
problem with the particular site and not my plugin installation but
I'm wondering if there is some trick I am missing.
Thanks, JWC

There's no such thing. There's a Flash Player out for various platforms
and then there's a Shockwave Player out only for M$ and OSX

There's no Shockwave Flash Player listed.
You can test your player here:

I would appear they've changed the name, perhaps even the product.
But, it does not alter the fact that "shockwave flash" does indeed
exist and will continue to do so as long as anyone has a copy of it.
