sendmail not working well

ive got sendmail installed, (default slack 9.1 install)

it works fine from the local computer, but when i use sendmail over the
network (127.0.0.1:25 for a workstation logged in with xdmcp) the message
gets to the mqueue but doesn't get sent. im not sure if it just disapears
eventually, but it doesn't get to where its supposed to go..

any ideas?
