Post subject: How do i install host raid driver on new RedHat install
Archived from groups: linux>redhat>install (more info?)

Trying to install redhat enterprise linux 4. i have a driver from
supermicro's website (the PC is a supermicro) for RHEL4 Update 1. The
driver is for the onboard host scsi RAID

1. Is it "possible" this might work with update 3, or do i just stick
with update 1 to be safe?
2. How do i install this driver?? when i extract it, i find a .IMG
file and a .RPM file. What do i do with these? I know this is a very
basic and stupid question, but do i put the RPM file on a floppy and
when i put the redhat install CD, do i type some special commands so
that i looks for my driver??

Right now when i try to install, i recognizes all my drives and wants
to partition them all. so i have the PC stuck on that screen. do i
reboot and reinstall and then use my drivers initially or do i create
these partitions? since this is hardware RAID, i do not think it
should recognize my drives, it should only see 1 drive that is the RAID
drive, so i am doing this wrong.

I guess, i need to know if i should try and install on "update 1", and
how do i get redhat to accept my drivers? BTW, i have never seen
redhat before so this is very new for me
