What do you mean by "ie email" - do you have a webmail account?

If that's what you want, read it with Mozilla / firefox / dillo / lynx,
....

The choice is yours.

I think you must mean Outlook Express, not Internet Explorer.

And no, none of those prorams will read your mails, they're web
browsers.

You might be able to convert your .dbx files to mboxes (standard unix
mailbox format) with KmailCVt, but I think it can only handle older OE
versions (v.4, v.5).
http://www.icewalkers.com/Linux/Software/512040/KmailCvt2.html

One way would be to set up temporary IMAP server, move the mail to the
server from your Outlook Express, change to Linux (or whatever) and
download the mails from the IMAP server.. requires an extra computer to
play with though..

Hope this helps,
Tero

AIUI, .dbx files are Outlook Express, not Internet Explorer. You'd do
well to move away from that anyway...

http://mbx2mbox.sourceforge.net/ documents a tool that converts .dbx
files into standard mbox format. From there on, you've got loads of ways
to read your mail...

yes it is outlook, as i just told someone else i must have had a senior
moment. i have been using other OS`s but i did not care for the email
programs. i was going to move everything to FC3 but now FC4 is out so i`ll
have to get a copy of that. i will miss some of my win 98 (barf) programs,
but i may yet find some who could convert them to linux.
thank you greg

In that case, install either Thunderbird, Mozilla or Eudora on your W98
box, import the emails from OE and then copy the resultant mbox files to
your Linux box.
