I am planning (still planning, can change) to use the following
Motherboard etc for my new desktop for RH9. Anyone has had any
experience with any of the following hardware. Any idea about how to
overcome and also info on USB2.0 support and Firewire support will be
helpful.
Motherboard:
Motherboards Socket A VIA Chipsets KM400(North), VIA VT8235(south),
SOYO - K7VMP - Socket A ATX Motherboard with Audio, Video,
AGP8X/4X, IrDA, USB 2.0, FireWire, and 10/100Mbps Ethernet LAN
CPU: Athlon XP 2600+
Video: on board, UniChrome GFX, 64Mb
Audio: AC '97 CODEC VIA VT1616

Thanks, NS

USB2 is now supported with thanks to the 2.6 series kernel. You'll
definitely have to make a custom kernel with this machine if you want
things to work. Provided the LAN is fairly standar (many are RealTek
based), you should have much sucess.

As for FireWire, that will be rather interesting. Kernel support is,
however, available...
