Hi,
I am looking for sponsor this package. I have ported most of the
changes done in Ubuntu to pkg-java svn. I have tested that package
builds in pbuilder and runs properly with openjdk.
Following is the latest changelog entry for reference.
omegat (1.7.3.u2+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low
* debian/control
- Use openjdk-6-jdk as build dependency.
- Use 'openjdk-6-jre | sun-java5-jre | sun-java6-jre' as runtime
dependency.
* debian/rules
- Set JAVA_HOME corresponding to openjdk-6-jdk.
* debain/ant.properties
- Set default source and target values to 1.4.
* debian/patches
- 02-edit-wrapper.dpatch - Add check for OpenJDK runtime as well.
* debian/watch
- Fix expression to match only release versions. Do not directly use
specific sourceforge mirror.

I am not a DD, but I made all versions of omegat package until now. I
have looked at your version, and everything seems fine, but I see no
point uploading a new version of 1.7.3.u2 when 1.8.1 has been released
as stable - except if you are looking for a freeze exception. As for
1.8.1, it's blocked by bug #480074.
Cheers,
Tiago Saboga.

Tiago,
My main purpose of doing those changes was that if this revision was
uploaded in Debian, I could just ask for a sync in Ubuntu instead of
maintaining the difference.
I am not planning to ask for freeze exception. Do you that a package
moving to main (built with openjdk now) is a good reason for asking
exception?
By the way, you can still upload this revision to unstable and then
work for update to 1.8. Since you are the uploader, I leave the
decision to you. I am not a regular user of the application. But if
there is anything I can help with in packaging, let me know.

I have no problem with this.

I don't know, perhaps somebody else can jump in and give us an
opinion. I do not feel strongly about that, because omegat is very new
in debian and it will ship anyway with an outdated version (1.8.1 has
several important new features and 2.0beta is faster and will
hopefully be even more reliable).

I have no objection to this upload, but as I said I am not a DD, and I
can't upload the package. The help I really need with this package is
packaging libjna-java. When it hits unstable, I can upload a 1.8.1
package in a few days.
