I changed my hostname for my linux installation and I now have problem
accessing the web through my dsl setup. The connection was fine prior
to changing the hostname. Can anyone help?

What are the steps to take to change a hostname on a linux box?

Well, yes, but that filename does vary by distro. I think Red Hat and
its heirs read it from somewhere in /etc/sysconfig. This:
grep hostname /etc/rc.d/*
will work on any distro with boot scripts in /etc/rc.d. (Which, I
believe, is all of the major ones.) That will show the hostname(1)
command being run.

Really questions such as this belong in a distro-specific forum, because
there might be special tools which do this. Slackware has "netconfig",
for example.

The /etc/ filename where the hostname is stored varies from one distro
to another. Debian uses /etc/hostname, I think RH uses
/etc/sysconfig/hostname.

In RedHat and Mandrake you can set the HOSTNAME parameter in
/etc/sysconfig/network.
With "/etc/init.d/network restart" you can activate the new configuration
instantly.

Using a tool like Webmin is cool too. Gets round having to know the
