According to your blog, you work at BT. Googling for "BT Microsoft"
shows that BT and Microsoft are quite friendly, and have been so for
quite a while. Some things they've done together:

LAS VEGAS ‹ Jan. 6, 2008 ‹ Microsoft Corp. and telecommunications
leader BT announced they are bringing together the next-generation
TV service BT Vision with Microsoft¹s Xbox 360 games and
entertainment system. All BT broadband customers will have the
unique opportunity to receive the best in high-definition gaming,
television and movies through an Xbox 360 console, in a powerful,
all-in-one entertainment experience. BT Vision, which is powered by
the Microsoft Mediaroom Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) platform, plans
to make this first-of-its-kind device and service offering available
to customers in the middle of 2008. The announcement was made during
the keynote address by Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates and Microsoft
President Robbie Bach of the Entertainment & Devices Division at
2008 International CES on Jan. 6.

So, Microsoft partner Mark Kent, why are you so hard on Jesper for
working at a company that has done things with Microosft?

Yes he has.
The problem is Jesper is a gentleman and he offers facts.
Mark and Roy are rabid zealots and all they offer is insults and far out
statements backed with phrases like " a reliable source told me" etc.

I don't trust Microsoft either, but that doesn't mean I see paranoia in
everything they do.

Mark Kent, the Elliot Spitzer of COLA.

SLAM DUNK!

The Linux hypocrites and liars are being exposed, one item at a time.

And BTW I don't care who works for whom just don't accuse others of doing
what you are doing.

In case you don't know, Elliot Spitzer was the Governor of NY up until
today when he resigned because he got caught hiring high priced prostitutes
and some funny money transactions.

The irony is that he used to be attorney general and was rabid about going
after the same kind of people and businesses he just got caught dealing
with personally.

It's just like the Linux advocates in COLA.

Earn using Windows/Microsoft by day.
Advocate Linux and slam Microsoft by night.

He's been absent for a little while - perhaps he's been pulled off onto
something else. ISO has an enormous problem, though - it's completely
lost any credibility in terms of open-process.

Interestingly, the WTO and UN suffer also from significant political
manipulation, for example, the WTO is, at the behest of the US gov
on behalf of Monsanto, threatening the EU with anti-competitive action
because it (the EU) quite rightly opposes the use of GM crops. There was
an article recently which showed that some of the first generation GM
crops are now being attacked by the kinds of pest they were supposed to be
immune to. Nature always finds a way - GM is a waste of time and effort,
as well as risking the rapid evolution of "super pests", as has already
been demonstrated.

Interestingly, that little bit of news appears to have been ignored by
most, I think I read it in the FT a few days ago. The creationists
should be worried, as it's a rather good example of Mr Darwin's theory
in action.

This is true, and very scary stuff.
Pests, like bacteria and virus's have always had the ability to adapt.

Look at the baby boomer and the following generation (generation X ??)
both of which are experiencing problems with antibiotic resistant disease
due to the practice in the 60's and 70's of throwing broad spectrum
antibiotics at every minor illness.

Insects are no different.

"GM" is just another doubleplusungood word now. We've been "genetically
modifying" crops for about 10,000 years, sometimes we get something
beneficial, like golden rice, sometimes we get screwed up stuff. The
*methods* of modifying the genetic material have changed over the years,
the fact of the change, hasn't.

Jim, I see nothing either unreasonable or impolite in the above.

Corporate cultures are very pervasive, as any large group cultures are.
Most people would struggle not to be affected by them. The popular term
here for it is "going native".

Err, ODF is an existing standard, OOXML's only purpose is to prevent ODF
adoption and continue Microsoft's monopoly. Standards bodies do not
exist for this purpose, therefore the whole OOXML action is an abuse.
