Marc,

Your platform contains the following claim:

Why can "this" not be solved from the outside? How can it be solved?
How will not defaming contribute to a solution?

What case are you referring to?

I don't think it ever happened up to now. In most cases, the additional
members have been approved but only by a fraction of the team. That said
the supplementary members found their way within the team (thinking both
to the supplementary ftpmaster assistants and to weasel for DSA).

I agree however that we have to go further and that the assistant status
must not become the end of the road for the members who have shown that
they can do more and they want to do more. And the full members should
encourage the assistants to go down that path... otherwise they might not
do the supplementary work that it involves (it's always best to know that
one's work is not going to be ignored).

It doesn't appear to be enough in all cases. Despite numerous mails, IRC
discussion with all DSA members and a real life chat during a dinner
with James Troup during last Debconf, the addition of Peter Palfrader
came from a decision of Phil Hands and the team as a whole had been unable
to take the decision with simple constructive criticism.

Thus I believe a reasonable decision by an individual (be it the DPL or
one of the team member) should be able to unblock the situation when it's
needed.

Cheers,
