Post subject: LSI 7402XP Fibre Channel mptlan.ko as Dual Lan Card....: Topology -> Token Ring??
Archived from groups: comp>os>linux>networking (more info?)

Hey,

I already got a couple of single port PCI-X Cards which worked wonderfully
within a 1000BaseSX Ethernet LAN (also with a LSI chipset).

Currently, I got a nice LSI dual port FC Adapter which is equipped with two
1000BaseSX tranceivers with LC connectors. Wondering why no link comes up
on my switches, I saw that it is 'weiredly' set up to pretend it's a token
ring card, and no ethernet....:

fc0 Link encap:16/4 Mbps Token Ring Hardware Adresse
00:06:2B:0A:CE:E4
[...]
fc1 Link encap:16/4 Mbps Token Ring Hardware Adresse
00:06:2B:0A:CE:E5
[...]

Firmware version:

Current active firmware version is 01020c00 (1.02.12)
Firmware image's version is LSIFC929X-1.02.12 (6/15/2005)
Lsi Logic Corporation

That are the modules which are loaded.

teoste:~# lsmod | grep mpt
mptlan 11392 0
mptfc 12068 0
mptscsih 21760 1 mptfc
mptbase 51108 3 mptlan,mptfc,mptscsih
scsi_transport_fc 35908 1 mptfc
scsi_mod 129356 5
libata,mptfc,mptscsih,scsi_transport_fc,scsi_tgt
teoste:~#

I've also quickly checked the lsiutil, if I can choose anything about
topology from there but I didn't found andything appropriate...

Is there anything I can do about linking to 1000BaseSX Ethernet correctly,
or is it simply unsupported by this hba?

Thank you very much for your help,

Cheers,

Uli
