Greetings,

I am trying to set up some USB gamepads with kernel version 2.4.25 under
Debian Testing. I have a Microsoft Sidewinder, as well as a no-name
6-axis pad that identifies itself with the Greenasia chipset. I believe
I have all required modules loaded (usbcore, usb-ohci, joydev, input,
hid). Both gamepads work flawlessly when I calibrate and/or test with
jscalibrator or jstest, but the none of the axes work in any game (so
far I've tried with fceultra-sdl, vice, terminus, and vectroids). The
buttons work fine, but the axes are dead.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm happy to provide further
information for diagnosis, but I'm not sure where to look at this point.

Funny you should post this now, I have been trying to get my steering wheel
configured for a while now ( when I say "trying" I mean I tried then gave
up and forgot ) Suse 9.0.

I get more or less the same results, I can configure it and all axis and
buttons work fine but when I try to use it in anything I lose the x/y axis.

I would have spent more time researching but as I will be updating to Suse
9.1 in a day or 2 so I have left it on the back boiler till then.

Will be interested if anyone else has the same or a cure too.

I've found a few other similar symptom descriptions around usenet, but
no solutions so far. Is your steering wheel also USB or no?

Yep it is usb, during configure all is ok but when i try and use it I can`t
turn left or right, everything else is fine, 6 buttons, accel and brake
work but just not the wheel.

Makes Torcs a bit hard to play, might be alright if there was a drag race
game though Smile

I tried calibrating with jscal instead of jscalibrator and things are
looking up. Possibly jscalibrator is generating a bad profile in some
way. Since I'm up and running I'm not liable to investigate further
unless someone else expresses interest the subject.
