Post subject: Iomega REV with SATA
Archived from groups: comp>os>linux>hardware (more info?)

I have an Iomega REV internal SATA 35MB drive, on a system running
Fedora core 2.6.18.1
There is a problem accessing the drive. It appears not to have a /dev
entry.

The kernel reports an IOMEGA REV drive as follows:

Nov 25 18:39:32 2kbs kernel: ata2: SATA link up 1.5 Gbps (SStatus 113
SControl 3F0)
Nov 25 18:39:32 2kbs kernel: ata2.00: ATAPI, max UDMA/100
Nov 25 18:39:32 2kbs kernel: ata2.00: applying bridge limits
Nov 25 18:39:32 2kbs kernel: ata2.00: configured for UDMA/100
Nov 25 18:39:32 2kbs kernel: Vendor: Iomega Model:
RRD Rev: 23.B
Nov 25 18:39:32 2kbs kernel: Type: CD-
ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 05

The SCSI system (/proc/scsi/scsi) reports the drive as follows:

Attached devices:
Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: Iomega Model: RRD Rev: 23.B
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 05

I am unable to find the drive in the /dev structure e.g. as /dev/sr*
or dev/sc* as the help pages suggest.
Module sr_mod is loaded, and sg3_utils is installed.
cdrecord -scanbus does not find any SCSI devices.

Can anyone help?

You are probably not using cdrecord but a defective fork?

Try a recent version

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/

and run as root or install suid root.
