Anyone using Slack 12.2 and noticing some issues with FF3 and Flash10?
This is a stock installation, using the Flash10 from Slackbuilds.org.
Some sites seem OK, but one in particular ( http://www.mlb.com ) will not
display all the content on the page, and usually locks up the browser.
I've removed FF3 and installed the FF 2.0.18 package from Slack 12.1, and
things work fine. Haven't yet tried downgrading Flash to 9 with the
newer browser (FF3). Wondering if anyone else is seeing this...
Thanks.

Both the current and beta releases of flash-10 crash firefox 3.0.4 and
3.1b2 particularly when trying to switch to full-screen.
But I have no stability problems with firefox-3.0.4 and flash-10 on
Solaris.

Flash-9 is stable but has some security issues. |

I compiled my xulrunner and firefox manually and everything runs very
smoothly with flash 10 from SBo. |

Yes, I still use flash 9 when needed.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll go back to FF3 and downgrade to Flash
9.

Seamonkey and F9 seems to be very stable here.

As far as I know those have been fixed in 9.0r151
flash-player-9.0.151.0
is the one I'm using here.

Thanks, Eef. I had been using the r124 or r125 version.
Do you have a URI for that version? Adobe insists on providing v10 of
their flash player. |

Hi Dan:
I'm using FF 3.0.4 in S12.2 and Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12 and the site
you metion seems OK here. KDE 4.1.3 from testing and no problem at all
here.
Greetings. |

Hmph... That didn't work. FF3 seems to be the issue here, doesn't work
on that site with either F9 or F10. FF2 works with either. I guess it's
back to FF2 for me. <shrug>

Not exactly for THAT version, but
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=2
brings you to a page where you can download (almost) all older versions.
The Flash Player 9 link (134 MB) is a .zip file with all 9.0 versions,
including the 9.0r151 one for Linux.

I see the line wrapped, it is ONE single URL, up to and including the
ID=2.

Got it, thanks.
At the moment I have the ftp.mozilla.org release of firefox-3.0.4 running
and using flash-10 (latest release) and the combination seems to be stable.
Sites which crashed the Slackware distro version of firefox-3.0.4,
including Adobe's own site, now display without crashing the browser. |

Are you sure? What's not working for me is that on the right side
(approx the rightmost 1/3 of the page), there are supposed to be
baseball headlines on a white background. All that I'm seeing is a
blank gray section.
By the way, please trim out someone's signature block before you reply.
When you don't do that, many newsreaders will not show your post at all,
because they strip out things below the signature block delimiter (-- ).
Anyway, thanks to all who replied on this. I've decided to stick with
Firefox 2.0.18 and Flash 10, as it works properly and I don't need
anything that Firefox 3.x provides (very little difference between
them).
