Archived from groups: alt>os>linux>slackware (more info?)

From the plugins and firebird FAQ:

"If Flash Player does not work, make sure you have a compatible version of
libstdc++ present (libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3). On RedHat based systems,
install the package "compat-libstdc++" (Package "compat" on SuSE)."

I searched for the package (compat, libstd, and some others) on
slackware.com but could not find it. Could someone point me in the right
direction.

Sorry if the question is bit dumb, but it seems like it should be easy to
answer.

Do you have the "cxxlibs" package installed?

I have cxxlibs-5.1.0-i486-1 listed in /var/log/packages. That probably
explains it. I searched on slackware.com for cxx and could only find
6.2.1, so close but so far away. Wink

I'm using Flash Player with Mozilla 1.4, Galeon and ... (sorry I don't
remember the name) and it works fine without nothing but the standard
libs provided by Slackware.

If you look INTO that package, you will see that it installs, among
others:
usr/i486-slackware-linux/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.1-2-2.10.0.so
usr/i486-slackware-linux/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so
The latter sounds a lot like you were looking for....

I don't know either why two different libstdc++-3 libraries were
installed (and which one is the default).

PS: even the older version of cxxlibs in SW 9.0 already had those
two so's available.
