I'm having trouble with X on Fedora 4. the right side of the screen is
jumbled with lines and distortions. How can I fix it?

video card: ATI Rage IIc
Monitor: Royal DH-1764

It worked with Fedora 3 with no problems

So, use the /etc/Xll/xorg.conf file from FC3 or at runlevel 3 as root;

system-confg-display --reconfigure

Thanks Lenard.. For some reason, the problem corrected itself.
Mysterious.

Sounds like maybe your monitor and/or video card does not handle
frequency/mode changes well. Rebooting or cold starting the system/monitor
may have been required.

But, glad to hear everything is working correctly.

That could very well be..it's an old system I bought brand new in
1999. P-III 600Mhz. It's still a great system, but it needs some
upgrades. I use it for a developement webserver/database and it's
pretty fast for that, however, it's really slow when it comes to the
graphical desktop.

I haven't had any problems with the video since I posted the original
message.
