now that everyones had time to take it all in does it hold up to OPFP
as far as deepness? do you miss OPFP or does AA make it so you arent
missing it?
I've been holding off till I get my new computer in about a month.
thanks! |

Got to agree, definitely worth the money. Enough improvements with the
1.08 to be really enjoyable. And with the new oxygen release, more
addons are making it more like OFP with a better interface. |

Personally I like ArmA alot (warths and all). You need decent hardware
to enjoy mid/higher settings and to avoid issues stick to XP. It ran
decently on low/mid settings with my old AMD XP 2600+/GF 6600 GT/1.5
GB RAM. It runs great on high/very high settings on my new C2D
E6850/GF 7950 GT/2 GB RAM!
Is it perfect? Nope, there still are bugs but it's well worth the
money for me and more fixes are in the pipeline from BIS. I'm having
a blast playing co-op's with my friends and Join-In-Progess is a very
welcomed feature!

One of the main problems seems to be variety , multiplayer at least, a huge
amount of servers seem to be playing Evolution and the like, OK if you like
that, I personally atm like the Berserker C&H maps ,sometimes 2/3 servers on
the go, put there are a few hackers that seem to like these as well .
You get the odd CTI type but never with many players.

Unfortunately the 'script kiddies' are doing their best to ruin the
game for everyone and with that _IDIOTIC_ activity going on I see no
point to play P vs P...
I avoid all that by playing co-op's with a bunch of friends on a
private server and we are having a ball! Evolution is just one
co-op mission there are lots of others if you don't want to fire up
the editor and make your own.

thanks for the responses. playing OPFP I like most was blown away by
the deepness and the AL within the enviroments in alot of cases.
I have had experiences where an upgrade to a great game actually
turned out to be a downgrade in certain areas of gameplay.
possibly I had such a great memory of cinematic moments playing OPFP I
am worried I am setting myself up for dissapointment with AA.
I'm probably worried for nothing. but I did at least want to at least
get a consensus from those who played both. one the one complaint I've
heard in unison from here and elsewhere seems to be the clunkiness of
getting a target in your site with your rifle.
that would bother me cause quite frankly I read posts from people who
said they were dead eye jones in OPFP yet in AA they said they felt
like they were drunk tryign to draw a bead on an enemy.
hopefully this isnt the case forever.
anyways THANKS!!! |

I certainly don't *dislike* it, having put up with OFP's many flaws for
years, but for some reason I can't get into it. I bought it when it came
out in May (?), I'd fire it up maybe once a week, haven't gone very far in
the campaign, and I haven't touched it since June/July. It just doesn't
grab me as much as the original OFP did. I can't quite put my finger on the
'why'.
If I had to venture a guess, I'd say it's the controls--they're just
different enough to be confusing, which can be a source of frustration in
the heat of battle... |

Well, it's had 3 or 4 major patches without it being altered so I wouldn't
bet on it. As always, my advice is try before you buy...
http://www.armedassault.com/dwnl_demo.html
If you are gonna buy it, I'd suggest waiting til the expansion pack is
released as I would imagine there'll be a deluxe edition with both games in
it (it's due out this month). |

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm not enjoying it as much as I
did/do OpFlash.
I guess it could be because I haven't yet got in with a crowd who have
their own server and play co-op for fun and enjoy the game; I tend to
mainly meet numpties who just PK or ruin everyone elses fun.
I suspect I'll feel differently once they finally release the linux
dedicated server so our own boys can at least run it without interference,
but, yeah, I'm not currently enjoying it as much as OpFlash.

so far I feel like I'm drunk. I cant seem to hit anything, I cant
pinpoint what exactly the issue is. whether the gun site is too blocky
or it has something to do with the tracking of the mouse in relation
to the computer/armA program but I dont have any accuracy anymore.
otherwise I love what i see, the enviroment seems alive, and the
sounds are better than I expected |

Do you have a legit version? only I believe an update caused accuracy issues
in 'illegal' copies.
Also I think think trajectory stuff changed from some later updates, I
certainly seemed to notice 'bullet/rocket drop' more.
