Post subject: Question about version numbers on ifdb
Archived from groups: rec>games>int-fiction (more info?)

I was playing Vespers and I ran into some minor implementation
problems. It surprised me since it was an xyzzy best game winner. It
then occured to me that I might not be playing the latest version. On
ifdb, it lists 2 versions, a comp version and the latest version. It
also lists 2 ifids but doesn't say which is which:

IFIDs: ZCODE-1-050929-F8AB
ZCODE-1-051128-B5AA

Is it safe to assume that the bigger the 6-digit number, the newer the
game?

I'm playing version 051128.

Thanks.

In Inform games, the six-digit serial is traditionally the date on
which the game is compiled, so a game compiled today would have a
serial number of 090830.
