I'm receiving the Lone Ranger right now so the tech wasn't pulling your leg.
Check your polarity - make sure you are on horizontal. Also be sure you
are getting another channel with horizontal polarity, to make sure your
polarotor is working properly. I know there's nothing else to speak of
on that satellite so you'll have to check it on another.
My only other thought would be to make sure your dish hasn't lost it's
alignment by a degree or so, especially if you have a smaller dish.
